Chhattisgarh BJP criticises Centre over NCTC

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh BJP today criticised the proposed counter-terror body National Counter Terrorism Centre ( NCTC) saying that it would infringe upon the powers of the state governments.

The BJP government in the state has already expressed opposition to NCTC, along with several other state governments.

Chhattisgarh BJP chief Ram Sevak Paikra said that policing fell in the purview of state's jurisdiction and the state governments had always cooperated with the centre in the fight against terror.

The Centre will have to explain why it distrusts the states in this regard.
