Chhattisgarh: 5 Maoists carrying cash rewards on their heads surrender
RAIPUR: Five Maoists, carrying cash rewards on their heads, surrendered in the insurgency-hit Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.

The cadres turned themselves in before police last evening, citing disappointment with the movement, exploitation of lower rank rebels and women by senior Naxal leaders, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap told PTI.

Of the rebels who surrendered, Rajaram Kashyap was working as deputy commander in section-A of a military company of the outlawed CPI (Maoist), while Barsa Sukram was holding similar rank in section-B of the same company, he said adding that the two were carrying a reward of Rs eight lakh each on their heads.

Besides, another cadre Ghanriram was an active member of Maoist Military Platoon number-16 and Rs two lakh reward was announced for his arrest.

The two others who surrendered - Lakhu alias Moti Kashyap and Ramuram Alami - were lower rung members of the movement and carried a reward of Rs one lakh each on their heads, the SP said.

They will be provided assistance as per the policy of the state government, he added.
