Chennai's coronavirus cases remain under 1000 mark

The district has been the worst affected since March with the formation of several clusters. On Friday, 992 people tested positive for the infection. This is marginally above the 968 people who tested positive for Covid-19 in Chennai on Thursday.

Testing touched yet another all-time high for the second day in a row with 81588 people being tested on Friday. This comes after the State tested 80,864 on Thursday.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu state capital, Chennai reported the second day of under 1000 cases, providing some relief as the state capital has witnessed over 1000 cases for several weeks.

The district has been the worst affected since March with the formation of several clusters.

On Friday, 992 people tested positive for the infection. This is marginally above the 968 people who tested positive for Covid-19 in Chennai on Thursday.


Testing touched yet another all-time high for the second day in a row with 81588 people being tested on Friday. This comes after the State tested 80,864 on Thursday.

Tamil Nadu reported 5,976 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, taking the state’s total tally to 451,827.

The number of deaths reported remained under 100 on Friday and went down further, providing some reason to cheer. While the number of deaths stood at 92 on Thursday, it went down to 79 on Friday.

A state bulletin said 7,687 people had so far died due to the disease.

As many as 6,334 people were discharged, pushing the total recoveries to 392,507.
