Chennai, parts of coastal Tamil Nadu receive heavy rainfall
Rainfall activity over entire Tamil Nadu along with Chennai will witness an increase after 24 hours, said Skymetweather in its report.

The showers caused traffic snarls and waterlogging in several parts of the city. Traffic in Chennai came to a grinding halt in several locations like the arterial GST Road and Anna Salai.
There were also cheers in several parts hit by water scarcity.
The intermittent rains, under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over South West Bay of Bengal, began last night in parts of the state, and intensified this morning.
The Met office forecast heavy to very heavy rains in some areas of coastal districts, including the capital city and its neighbourhood, in the next 24 hours.
Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated places over Interior Tamil Nadu.
