Check 'unlawful' activities of party leaders: UP Congress to SP

Uttar Pradesh unit of Congress said controlling its own cadres has turned out to be the biggest challenge for ruling Samajwadi Party in maintaining law and order.

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh unit of Congress on Friday said controlling its own cadres has turned out to be the biggest challenge for ruling Samajwadi Party in maintaining law and order.

"The acts of SP leaders like land grabbing, demolishing under-construction building or getting caught with call girls have embarrassed the state and it has been proved that its own leaders are the biggest challenge before the ruling party on the law and order front," Congress legislature party leader, Pradip Mathur told newspersons here.

Alleging that illegal mining was continuing unabated under the patronage of SP leaders, he said the manner in which Durga Sakhti Nagpal issue was tackled by the government has only "boosted the morale of mining mafia".

SP leaders and MLAs are themselves breaking the rules and these issues would be raised in the coming assembly session next month, Mathur said. Expressing dissatisfaction over the flood relief works, he said that no senior official or minister has undertaken the tour to the affected areas.

Farmers and common people are facing immense hardships due to the delay in relief works, the Congress leader said.
