The Chhattisgarh government will examine recommendations of hike in salaries announced for Central government employees to give its own employees a better deal.

RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh government will examine recommendations of hike in salaries announced for Central government employees to give its own employees a better deal.

"The Centre had yesterday announced to accept the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission. We are examining that," Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh told reporters after unfurling the National Flag at the police parade ground here today on the occasion of Independence Day.

In the last four years, several steps have been taken by the government in favour of the state employees and as far as hike in salary is considered the government is examining what can be done, Singh who also holds the Finance portfolio said.

The UPA government yesterday announced an average increase of 21 percent in salaries of over 50 lakh government employees with effect from January 1, 2006, while adopting the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations.
