"Do not think that we have accepted this [decision]....Our heart is also aching because of your grief. We are all humans and our hearts are not made of stone. It is because of this, they might put me in jail for saying this, but I don't care. When someone is in trouble, we don't need to see who is red, white, yellow, or green. We are supposed to stand by their side. We cannot deny the responsibility to restore their dignity and respect that they deserve," Banerjee said while addressing the teachers who lost their jobs..Speaking to the teachers at Netaji Indoor stadium in a meeting, Banerjee said that a conspiracy has been hatched to collapse the education system and a "dirty game is being played since 2022".
"I know how to fight challenges. This is not the court's fault but of those who did politics with the teachers. For as long as I am alive, I will not let anyone snatch the jobs of eligible candidates. It is my commitment," Banerjee assured.
"Supreme Court has not been able to inform us who are eligible and ineligible. From 2022, a dirty game was started and robbing the jobs from us and misleading. West Bengal government has taken the case in Single Bench and then Division Bench. CBI was given the case and told them to do segregation and SSC will accept that. If someone is eligible, they should not lose the jobs. I am challenging and say I have never gave punishment to anyone. I have never snatched a job from anybody," Banerjee said.
Banerjee today met thousands of teaching and non-teaching staffers who lost their jobs in government-run and aided schools following a recent Supreme Court verdict. However, many remained outside the venue as they could not enter the premises over a chaos in connection with distribution of the passes for entry.
