LUCKNOW: With the Samajawadi Party all set to form a new government later this week, the buzz about key bureaucratic postings gained a feverish pitch.

Chief Secretary Anoop Misra has applied for deputation to the Centre. Anti Corruption chief Arun Kumar Gupta is tipped to be the new director-general of police.

Seen close to Mulayam Singh Yadav, he may be awarded with the prized positing as the state’s top cop shortly after Yadav takes over as CM. The present DGP, Atul Kumar is to retire shortly.

Adminsitrative reforms secretary Anita Singh, who was once secretary to CM, may be given back her old post. Principal secretary, Sports, Kumar Arvind Singh Deo, Neeta Chowdhary and Anil Gupta are also likely to have important roles in the new bureaucratic set up.

IAS officer Deepka Singhal, who met Mulayam Singh Yadav after the verdict, could also get a prized posting. Khadi and Village Industries Commission CEO Jai Shankar Mishra and principal secretary Chanchal Tiwari are also likely to get important posts. Though Mishra is expected to retire in a month, he maybe given an extension also after being deputed on an important post due to his proximity to Mulayam Singh Yadav. Mishra is also the father of debutant MLA from Lucknow (North), Abhishek Mishra an ex-IIM-Ahmadabad Professor.

Other senior bureaucrats, Santosh Yadav, Shiv Singh Yadav and PCS officer, Shambhoo Singh Yadav and Chakrapani who are on insignificant posts right now could become important players soon.
