Chandel ambush: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visits slain Assam Rifles Jawan’s residence

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday paid a visit to slain Assam Rifles Jawan Pranay Kalita's residence at Pathsala and shared his grief and condolences with the bereaved family members.

A cheque of Rs. 20 lakh was given to late Kalita's wife. Kalita was among the three jawans killed on Thursday last in Chandel in Manipur. Sonowal visited the jawan's residence and empathised with the latter's wife, father and mother.

He said his sacrifice is a source of inspiration, devotion and dedication for the youth across the nation. He also said that his duty towards safeguarding the unity, sovereignty and integrity of the nation will not go in vain. Responding to a demand, Sonowal also said that the road leading to the residence of the slain Jawan will be face lifted and named after the Jawan.
