Centre won't accept Najeeb Jung's resignation: Sources
NEW DELHI: After Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung's visit to the Prime Ministers' Office today, sources say the Centre might not accept his resignation which he had tendered yesterday.

The center might wait for President Pranab Mukherjee to return so that he could consider Jung's resignation. Lt. Governers and Governers are directly under the President who alone is authorised to accept or reject their resignations.

In the statement, Jung's office had said "Jung also thanks the people of Delhi for all their support and affection, especially during the one year of President's Rule in Delhi, when he got unstinted support from them and which in turn helped run the administration in Delhi smoothly and effortlessly."

Delhi's CM Arvind Kejriwal today morning went to Jung's residence for a breakfast and following the meeting he said that the reason for Jung's resignation were "personal".

A 1973-batch IAS officer, 65-years-old Jung had assumed charge as 19th Lt. Governor of Delhi on July 9, 2013. He tendered his resignation yesterday, 18 months prior to his tenure.
