Centre urged to sanction Rs 25 crores for Tirunallar Temple Town project

Tirunallar Temple Town project was proposed by the territorial administration in the mega tourism circuit.

PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry government has urged the Union Tourism Ministry to include the Tirunallar Temple Town project proposed by the territorial administration in the mega tourism circuit and release Rs 25 crores for the project.

Welfare and Tourism Minister P Rajavelu pleaded with the Additional Secretary to Tourism Ministry Girish Shankar during a meeting the official had with him here today.

A detailed project report is already available with Puducherry government which would be submitted to the Union Tourism Ministry for its consideration.

He also informed the Additional Secretary that Puducherry Administration had proposed several tourism projects making use of the surplus land available with the Hotel Pondicherry Ashok in Kalapet a coastal village here under public private project mode.

A release from office of the Tourism Ministry here said today that the Union Tourism Ministry had sanctioned fourteen tourism development projects in Puducherry involving an outlay of Rs 50.11 crores. Of the 14 projects envisaged under the scheme detailed project reports had been submitted for seven projects and project reports were being made now.
