Centre should concede Opposition's demand for JPC on 2G scam: Nitish

PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said the Centre should concede the opposition's demand for a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam.

"The demand for a JPC inquiry is of the entire opposition... it should be fulfilled," Kumar said here.

"There has been tradition in the country for constituting the JPC... On one hand we have waged a war against corruption in Bihar, the Centre is not agreeing to the demand for a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum deal on the other," he said last evening.

"We are votary for a JPC... it will raise the credibility of democracy," he said as held the Centre responsible for the stand-off in Parliament.

Referring to the decision to scrap the allocation of funds for Local Area Development schemes of MLAs and MLCs in Bihar, he said "our fight against corruption will relentlessly continue."

"The people of the state is with the government on the war against corruption," Kumar said.

He said the state government had already initiated proceedings for confiscation of houses of the public servants constructed with utilisation of resources beyond their known sources of income for opening schools in the promises.
