Centre releases over Rs 2.5 cr for upgradation of slums in J-K

Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Housing, Raman Bhalla, today said the Centre has released over Rs 2.50 crore for upgradation of basic amenities across the slums of the state.

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Housing, Raman Bhalla, today said the Centre has released over Rs 2.50 crore for upgradation of basic amenities across the slums of the state under Rajiv Awas Yojna (RAY).

"The Centre has released Rs 2.63 crore under RAY for upgradation and improvement of basic amenities in slums," he said while addressing a public gathering at Rajiv Nagar here.

He added necessary instructions have been issued to the concerned executing agency for taking up the necessary developmental works at these places.

"Government is making all out efforts to upgrade the living condition of the slum dwellers by providing all basic amenities. We are keen to tackle the problems of slums in a definitive manner under RAY scheme," he added.

The Minister said slum areas would soon have all civic facilities, for which a survey is being conducted under the RAY.
