Centre plans museum for tribal freedom fighters in Gujarat
Construction of the museum may start this month and it may take shape by the time the Modi government seeks a second mandate in mid-2019, according to people privy to the plan.

Modi had given a call in his Independence Day speech in 2016 to recognise tribal freedom fighters. From small memorials, the plan has now expanded to a national project which will entail turning a British-era jail into a museum and using technology to recreate tribal uprisings in multidimensional formats.
The construction of the proposed museum may start this month and it may take shape by the time the Modi government seeks a second mandate in mid-2019, according to people privy to the plan. They said the memorial has been planned close to Sardar Patel’s under-construction Statue of Unity in Gujarat.
