ITANAGAR: The Information and Broadcasting ministry is planning to launch two satellite channels for the north eastern region, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said today.

Of these, one channel with the proposed nomenclature - Arunprova - would be dedicated to Arunachal and Sikkim, Rijiju told reporters here.

"The channels will help the region in promoting the local art and culture besides creating awareness among the people of other parts of the country on the rich heritage of the North East," he said.

"Personally I am giving attention to all the mega projects in the pipeline for the region and will see that these projects are implemented in time," the union minister hailing from Arunachal Pradesh said.
