NEW DELHI: The Centre said in Parliament on Tuesday that it is considering withdrawal of more central para-military forces ( CPMF) from Jammu and Kashmir as situation in the Valley is improving.

Minister of state for home Gurudas Kamat said while 10 battalions of CPMF had been withdrawn from Kashmir during 2009, further withdrawals are being considered and examined.

The state police has also acquired better capabilities and higher numbers of personnel as a result of capacity building efforts.

Kamat said deployment of CPMF in Kashmir valley is a subject of continuous appraisal and review. The force levels are maintained in order to meet the requirements of the state government for maintaining law and order.
