NEW DELHI: The Centre is considering removal of encroachment from Waqf properties and strengthening the regional offices of Waqf Board, the Rajya Sabha was told today.

In her reply to a question, Minister for Minority Affairs Najma A Heptulla said a scheme envisaging assistance for meeting the training and administrative cost of State Waqf Boards, removal of encroachment from Waqf properties and strengthening of zonal and regional offices of the boards are the new schemes under the consideration of the ministry.

Detailing other schemes, she said schemes aiming at upgrading the skills and training in preservation of traditional ancestral arts and crafts of the minorities, preserving rich heritage of the minorities in the contest of the Indian culture are also under consideration.

A bridge course aimed at bridging the academic and skill development gaps of the deeni Madrasa passouts with their mainstream counterparts is also under consideration, she added.
