BHOPAL: The Union Government has no document related to the arrest and subsequent release of former chairman and CEO of Union Carbide Corporation Warren Anderson in its possession, it has informed the Bhopal Gas Tragedy inquiry commission.

The information came from the Union Cabinet Secretary in reply to the commission's query, it said in a press release.

Meanwhile, the next hearing of the commission will be held on December 19 when officials of Temki company would be deposing about the disposal of toxic waste at Union Carbide's defunct plant at Pithampur.

Anderson flew to India after the gas leakage from UCC's Bhopal plant in December 1984 -- in which at least 2,500 people died and thousands of others were injured -- and was arrested. However, he secured bail, and returned to USA, never to come to India again despite court's warrant.
