Centre has approved Rs 153 cr for urban poor in MP
Centre has approved a scheme to provide basic infrastructure facilities to urban poor and has provided Rs 153 crore to Madhya Pradesh for it.
The central government has approved a scheme to provide basic infrastructure facilities to urban poors living in large numbers in the cities across the country, Union Minister of State for Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation, Kumari Shailja said on Saturday.
She lauded the efforts of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) in making the state capital slum free and advocated for providing the facility of clean drinking water, social security and education to those living in cities.
Urban infrastructure should be developed by framing urban development policies and assured the state that Centre will provide all possible help in this regard.
Speaking on the occasion Minister of State for Personnel and Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachouri said combined efforts are needed for developing four major cities of the state; Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur.
Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan demanded that schemes for development of urban areas should be granted approval on a priority basis.
He stressed for joint efforts for ensuring development of the urban areas and ensured that the state will not delay in providing its share for such schemes.
