KOLKATA: West Bengal urban development minister Firhad Hakim today said that the central government started doing politics over the 'Smart City' project. Significantly, West Bengal government that participated in the competition, missed centre's smart city bus.

"The central government is doing politics over the smart city project," said Hakim. he further added that he spoke to the union minister of urban development, Venkaiah Naidu and inquired about the issue.

"Later there was a video conference in which it was decided that Bengal will get smart cities in the second and third phase. the cities might include Newtown, Bidhannagar and Haldia," said Hakim.
