Centre, Delhi government engaged in tussle to distract people: Ajay Maken
NEW DELHI: Congress today said the Delhi government and the Centre were engaged in a power tussle to "distract" people's attention from pressing issues such as power, water and "fooling" the public by such diversionary tactics.

On the fresh row over the induction of five Bihar Police officials in the Anti-Corruption Branch, Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken said the issue could have been dealt with differently without being offensive.

" Arvind Kejriwal should realise there's a difference between running a government and an NGO. He should shun politics of opposition," Maken told reporters in a press conference here.

The government can ask for a list of 10 honest police officers from the Delhi Police to help it fight against corruption which is not short of such officers, Maken said.

"There are several ways to achieve things but it seems their objective is to fight and not to focus on reaching basic services to the common man," he said.

On CBI detecting alleged irregularities in issuance of birth certificates by North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), Maken said it was "part of a big racket" and demanded the investigative agency not to spare anyone involved.

"The fake birth certificates can be used to procure passports, citizenship cards as well as to gain admissions under the EWS quota," he said.
