LUCKNOW: Alleging that the Congress-led UPA government was creating hurdles in the development of Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party today said that the state has got only 17 per cent of Rs 44,000 crore earmarked for it by the Centre.

"The Centre is creating hurdles in development of the state..the state has got only Rs 7401.43 crore from the Centre that is only 17 per cent of its share of the total 44,000 crore.

"The Centre makes unnecessary objections to stop grant to the state and that is unfortunate," party spokesman and cabinet minister Rajendra Chowdhury told reporters here.

He said that Union ministers belonging to the state were not taking interest in development works here and were not trying to put the state government in the dock.

"The working of Union ministers is biased against the state..but if Congress leaders leaders think they could hinder state's growth, they are wrong and people of the state will give them reply in coming elections," he said.

Chowdhry added that the SP government was committed to the development of the state and programmes had been made to attract investors here.
