Centre approves inter-cadre transfer of Sanjiv Chaturvedi from Haryana to Uttarakhand
NEW DELHI: The Centre has approved an inter-cadre change for whistleblower Indian Forest Service officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi from Haryana to Uttarakhand after the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) directed the Narendra Modi government to reconsider his request.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the PM issued the order on August 12 after considering a proposal sent by the Ministry of Environment and Forests on August 6. ET has a copy of the order.

Chaturvedi is said to have re-ceived the ACC order on Saturday night. He declined to comment. In July, he was chosen for the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award.

The CAT had directed the government on May 29 to decide on the plea of the 2002-batch IFS officer “expeditiously, preferably within a period of two months”. Raising concern over the “harassment” meted out to Chaturvedi, formerly chief vigilance officer at the AIIMS “merely because of carrying out his duties”, the tribunal said: “We do hope and trust a situation may never arise where honesty is punished and corruption rewarded.”
