Centre also has role in containing insurgency: Assam government
GUWAHATI: The Assam Government today hit out at the Centre saying it too has the responsibility of containing insurgency in the state as central security agencies were under its control.

"Though law and order is a state subject, the Centre cannot shirk its responsibility so far as containing insurgency is concerned," the state government said in a statement here.

Referring to the statement of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal blaming the state government for the recent Rajgarh blast in Dibrugarh district by suspected ULFA militants, it said, "Instead of blaming the state government alone, the union minister must also realise that the central government too has a major role to play as all the insurgent outfits have their bases outside the country".

"By attacking the state government, the union minister has also indirectly attacked his own government as the central security agencies, including the Army, are under its control," it said.
