Central teams all praise for Ahmedabad, Surat officials

NEW DELHI: The inter-ministerial central teams visiting Surat and Ahmedabad found that the administration is conducting extensive testing so as to identify Covid-19 positive cases in the initial stages, said the Union home ministry.

The auto industrial units have started functioning in Sanand in Gujarat with 50% capacity and 60% of the 50,000 labourers in Sanand industrial base have returned to their jobs, said officials.

The teams held discussions with various stakeholders including textile and diamond industries, which are major employers of labourers, and found that most labourers had received their pay for the previous month. The central team told the Surat administration to prepare a plan for the future as well, said a home ministry official.
