The Minister who was in Guwahati on Tuesday said that Rs 239 crore was released by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Disaster Relief funds, the rest Rs. 101 crore by the Ministry of DoNER to meet the expenses caused due to damage of infrastructure.
The minister informed that flood situation of Assam is regularly monitored. “I have reviewed the flood situation . We have asked the state government to send their requirement to government.”
He added, “This year rainfall arrived in northeast earlier than expected, leading to the floods. However, with the flood water receding now, I have also asked the concerned departments to ensure that no epidemic could break out anywhere in the flood affected areas.”
The first wave of flood in this month has affected over 5 lakh people in seven districts. At least 25 people have been killed.
