Central Armed Police Forces start arriving in poll-bound Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya

Meghalaya has sought 119 companies of CAPF for the polls. A senior official in the state election commission said that 30 companies of central forces have already arrived in the state to assist in the conduct of the elections.

In three poll bound states of Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have started arriving.

Meghalaya has sought 119 companies of CAPF for the polls. A senior official in the state election commission said that 30 companies of central forces have already arrived in the state to assist in the conduct of the elections.

In Nagaland also a large number of CAPF have arrived and are deployed.


In Agartala, Tripura Chief Electoral Officer Gitte Kirankumar Dinkarrao said that 50 companies of CAPF already arrived in Tripura and more 50 companies about to reach in the state.

The full Election Commission, headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar, would undertake a four-day visit to three northeastern states from January 11.

The CEC, accompanied by two Election Commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel, and several senior officials would arrive in Tripura on January 11 and then would go to Meghalaya capital Shillong on January 12 and then to Nagaland on January 14.
