INDORE: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan's family today celebrated her achievement as she was unanimously elected to the top post.

"As a son it is a proud moment for me that my mother has become the Lok Saha Speaker," her younger son Mandhar Mahajan said.

Sumitra did her MA and LLB from the Devi Ahilya University here.

She was born at Chiplun in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra on April 12, 1943 and was married to advocate Jayant Mahajan on January 29, 1965.

Her husband is no more and she has two sons.
