A team of CBI sleuths from Delhi will reach Mumbai on Tuesday to record the statement of Dr Jaishri Patil on whose petition the Bombay High Court directed CBI to conduct a preliminary probe into allegations of corruption and misuse of official position by former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

Following High Court's direction, Deshmukh stepped down from the post on Tuesday. People with direct knowledge of the matter said that the team of CBI officials from Delhi will also record the statement of former Commissioner of Police (CP) Parambir Singh who has accused Deshmukh of asking suspended Mumbai cop Sachin Waze and other Mumbai cops to extort Rs 100 crores as 'monthly' from bars, hotels and restaurants.

Both Deshmukh and the Nationalist Congress party (NCP) have denied the allegations.
