CBI to quiz Noida policemen involved in Aarushi case probe

The CBI will quiz Noida policemen who were involved in the probe into the Aarushi-Hemraj double-murder case that had led to the arrest of the teenager's dentist father Rajesh Talwar.

GHAZIABAD: The CBI will quiz Noida policemen who were involved in the probe into the Aarushi-Hemraj double-murder case that had led to the arrest of the teenager's dentist father Rajesh Talwar, with an agency official saying that it was wrong to give a clean chit to him.

Talwar, who had emerged as the main suspect in the May 16, 2008 murder of his 15-year-old daughter and servant and was arrested on May 23 by Noida police, was granted bail after nearly 50 days as the CBI said it had not found any evidence against him.

The agency accused domestic helps Krishna, Vijay Mandal and Rajkumar of murdering the duo. However, officials now say they have little evidence against the three.

Rajesh and Nupur Talwar have come under the scanner of CBI again and were in Dehradun last month as part of the agency's probe into the case.

The CBI will now interrogate two Noida policemen Bholu and Rahul who had taken blood samples from the site and were involved in the investigation, a CBI official said on condition of anonymity.

In its 187-page investigation report, Noida Police had considered Rajesh as a prime accused.

The CBI official said it was "a wrong decision" to give a clean chit to Rajesh by the CBI team when the investigation was still in progress.

Police had suspected that a golf club was used in the murder which could not be recovered. Police also pointed out that a golf club of a close relative of Talwar family was said to be missing but after the case was transferred from Noida Police to CBI, it did not investigate it further.

Sources that facts in Aarushi case were intentionally prevaricated to give relief to Talwar.

The CBI appears to be planning to quiz other police personnel from Ghaziabad, Noida and Meerut who were involved in investigation and has contacted them.

The CBI had carried out narco-analysis test on Nupur and Rajesh between February 8 to 20 this year at the Gandhinagar forensic laboratory. However, it failed to get any concrete clue, which could help investigators in solving the murder case.
