CBI seeks Teesta Setalvad, husband Javed Anand’s custody in violation of FCRA case
NEW DELHI: The CBI moved the Supreme Court seeking custodial interrogation of social activist Teesta Setalvad and her husband Javed Anand in connection with the alleged violation of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) by two trusts run by them.

The activist couple has alleged victimisation for working for justice for the 2002 Gujarat riot victims. The state, on the other hand, argued that the trusts – Sabrang Trust and the Citizens for Justice and Peace — had violated the law.

The CBI plea comes a month after the Mumbai High Court granted bail to the couple.
