NEW DELHI: The CBI has registered five cases in connection with the Naxal attacks in Dantewada earlier this year and the violence against activist Swami Agnivesh and his team during their visit to Chhattisgarh in March.

The cases relate to violence which took place in March in the villages of Morpalli, Tadmetla and Timmapuram of Dantewada district, CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra said. The step came following the July 5 direction from the Supreme Court on a writ petition.

Two other cases also relate to Naxal attacks on police and arson in the villages of Tadmetla and Timmapuram, Mishra said.

Three police personnel and an unidentified person were killed in the incidents.

The fifth case relates to the attack on the convoy of Swami Agnivesh near Sukma Barrier, Dornapal, in which three police vehicles were damaged, the spokesperson said.
