CBI raids ex-Jharkhand minister's residence

The CBI today conducted simultaneous raids at the residence of a former Jharkhand minister in Gadhwa district and some of his relatives elsewhere.

RANCHI: The CBI today conducted simultaneous raids at the residence of a former Jharkhand minister in Gadhwa district and some of his relatives elsewhere.

CBI sources said some documents were seized and the raids were conducted in a case related to alleged medicine scam in Jharkhand when minister Bhanu Pratap Sahi looked after Health.

The minister, along with a former Jharkhand Health Secretary, had been named accused in the case about alleged irregularities in purchase of medicine as well as procurement of medical equipment, the sources said.

The CBI had taken over the investigations of the case. Related raids also took place at the residence of the minister's sister in Ranchi and the house of a relative at Robertsonganj in Uttar Pradesh, the sources said.

Sahi denied the charges terming as motivated but said he would fully cooperate with law to prove his contention.
