CBI raids Doordarshan centre in Shimla

SHIMLA: A CBI team today raided the Doordarshan centre here following complaints of alleged financial irregularities related to payments for various programmes aired by the channel.

The eight member team reached Doordarshan centre around 8.00 AM and remained there till the evening.

Sources in the CBI said that the raids were made following complaints of alleged financial irregularities in respect to payments for various programmes including plays and serials aired by Doordarshan and to conduct a preliminary enquiry into the allegations.

There was no word from the CBI or the officials of Doordarshan regarding the documents scanned and seized by the CBI and the nature of allegations.

However, an official of the CBI, who refused to be quoted said, "The issues mainly related to functioning of the centre and payments, beside few appointments."
