CBI officer probing corruption case against Rakesh Asthana seeks voluntary retirement

Dagar is set to superannuate in September 2021.

The CBI on October 15 last year had registered an FIR against Asthana for allegedly taking a bribe from an accused probed by him in return of ensuring relief and a clean chit in the case.
NEW DELHI: Superintendent of Police (SP), CBI Satish Dagar who last year was entrusted with the investigation of money laundering probe involving meat exporter Moin Qureshi and a corruption case registered against Rakesh Asthana, former special Director CBI has sought voluntary retirement from the agency on "personal grounds".

Dagar is set to superannuate in September 2021. As per available information, the agency has not yet accepted Dagar's application for voluntary retirement.

As an investigator, Dagar had played a key role in securing the conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim in a rape case.


After a corruption case was registered against former CBI special Director Rakesh Asthana last year, Dagar was moved from the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) to probe the case.
