NEW DELHI: Almost a month ahead of the crucial Indo-Pak foreign minister-level talks in Islamabad where New Delhi is expected to raise issue of terrorism and fugitives hiding there, the CBI on Wednesday said it knew "exactly" where the underworld don and accused of the Mumbai serial blasts case Dawood Ibrahim is.
"We know exactly where Dawood Ibrahim is. Efforts are being made to get him through diplomatic channels and through the international community," CBI director Vijay Shanker told reporters here on the sidelines of the 9th D P Kohli Memorial Lecture.
Responding to a query on the reasons for delay in bringing back the don, Shanker said "Pakistan is not cooperating with India" and hence the delay. Shanker said, "He (Dawood) is in such a country which has a record of not cooperating with India when it comes to terrorism."
He said: "The government has facts that some terrorist organisations are getting safe shelter in Pakistan."
He was, however, confident that despite non-cooperation by Pakistan, CBI would bring Dawood to book. He said: "We are very sure that he (Dawood) would not be away from the long arms of the law for long."
