CBI is now Conspiracy Bureau Of India: Mamata Banerjee

KOLKATA: Using her government's platform, chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday continued her tirade against Narendra Modi and said "meaning of CBI has changed under Narendra Modi's regime. CBI is now Conspiracy Bureau Of India and by using this investigation agency, the Centre is practically trying to abolish the opposition."

Mamata was addressing "Mati Utsav" (festival of soil) at Burdwan during the day. Most of her speech was aimed at opposing Modi government's demonetization move. "In the past two months, after Modi Babu introduced demonetisation, we have suffered a revenue loss of Rs 5500 crore. The big question before my government at this stage is how to pay salaries to our employees. Former CPI (M) government had virtually ruined Bengal's economy. Now this demonetization. From where our government will get money to pay salaries to our employees?," asked Mamata.

She also said that "I was a member of the Lok Sabha for thirty years and never I had seen such a government which is crippling the economy of the country and using several of it's agencies to finish their political opponents. Rural economy of our state has collapsed absolutely. Factories are getting closed almost everyday. Poor people are not being able to withdraw their money from banks. I have reports that 40 per cent of our banks in Bengal do not have adequate supply of cash. Modi Babu is asking the people to go digital. But real fact is that there is no banks and post offices in 92 per cent of our total villages in the state and still, the Centre is forcing people to go cashless. Don't you think this a c rime?," she asked, adding that "despite all these, does Modi Babu wants us to worship him?."

Mamata has been opposing demonetisation from the very beginning. But now she has intensified her attacks against Narendra Modi and has been using platforms of her government to blast at the prime minister. In fact, all government functions in Bengal have now become a platform for opposing the prime minister.

She also said that her party will meet the President Pranab Mukherjee again to urge him to save the nation from ill-effects of demonetisation.
