NEW DELHI: In a surprise move, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Gujarat cadre IPS officer Rakesh Asthana, to expedite the probe of some highprofile cases. CBI said the SIT headed by an additional director Ashthana will exclusively investigate important cases like VVIP chopper scam and alleged loan fraud by beleaguered businessman Vijay Mallaya. Asthana, a 1984 batch IPS officer also headed the SIT that probed the burning of Sabarmati Express train at Godhra in 2002.
