CBI finds Vijay Mallya cagey during 2-day interrogation
NEW DELHI: UB Group chairman Vijay Mallya was evasive during his two day questioning by the CBI while denying any wrongdoing in the IDBI Bank loan fraud case.

Agency sources told TOI that Mallya, in reply to almost every question asked on Wednesday and Thursday, said "he will check the documents and get back".

"Vijay Mallya gave a diplomatic answer to everything," a senior CBI officer said.

Sources said the liquor baron didn't give straight answers to queries thrown at him with regard to the diversion of Rs 900-crore loan funds, misuse of funds rather than using them for his nowdefunct Kingfisher Airlines, and influencing the loan process, among other things.

A source, however, said there is documentary evidence suggesting irregularities, "so even if he is claiming ignorance despite being the head of the company, we have evidence against him". Mallya may be called in again by the agency for questioning.
