NEW DELHI: CBI today filed a fresh perjury application against lawyers Prashant Bhushan and Kamini Jaiswal and their NGO Centre for Public Interest Litigation for allegedly making false statements before the Supreme Court against CBI Chief Ranjit Sinha.

CBI, in its fresh plea, has alleged the two lawyers and the NGO have been "making deliberate and false statements on oath and before the Supreme Court".

Earlier, CBI had moved a similar application before the Supreme Court for lodging a case of perjury against the lawyers for allegedly making "deliberate and intentional false statements on oath" relating to investigations into the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

CBI said the statements are "punishable under various sections of IPC including Section 193".
