CBI has taken over investigation of the two cases that recently rocked the Congress-led state government.

NEW DELHI: Pursuant to directions of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, the CBI on Saturday registered two cases pertaining to gangrape and murder of a 16-year-old Kotkhai girl, and custodial death of one of the accused.

CBI has taken over investigation of the two cases that recently rocked the Congress-led state government.

"On order dated July 19 of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation of murder and rape of a minor girl in Shimla," CBI said in a statement.

The investigating agency said that it has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Earlier, the state government has submitted its report to Governor Acharya Devvrat in connection with the case.
