The case was later handed over to the CBI which had registered two FIRs on July 6 and 19 on the directions of Shimla High Court. The agency had recently submitted a report to the Shimla High Court stating that it had found certain clues which could crack the case.
Forensic tests- as many as three- conducted on the five accused have failed to establish their “direct involvement” in the case, as first reported by ET on October 24.
Three forensic tests- narco analysis, polygraph and brain mapping- were conducted on the five accused at the behest of CBI. After the FSL failed to find their involvement in the case, all the five were granted bail by a court in Shimla.
However, trouble mounted for the eight Himachal Police officers arrested by the CBI on charges of custodial death of one of the accused, Suraj Singh.
As a result, the CBI had approached a court in Shimla seeking permission to conduct voice samples of the cops.
