CBI court adjourns Shah bail plea till Sept 7

This the third time that the matter has been adjourned as the senior council of Amit Shah, Jethmalani was not able to appear in the court

AHMEDABAD: Special CBI court here today adjourned the hearing of bail application of former Gujarat minister Amit Shah, arrested in connection with Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case of 2005, till September 7.

Special CBI judge G K Upadhyay adjourned the matter after Shah's council sought more time as their senior council Ram Jethmalani could not come for the hearing.

This the third time that the matter has been adjourned as the senior council of Amit Shah, Jethmalani was not able to appear in the court.

Shah, a former Minister of State for Home and close aide of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, was arrested by CBI on July 25 in connection with the fake encounter case and charged with murder, extortion and kidnapping.

Shah's bail application was filed on July 26, a day after his arrest.

Four IPS officers have been arrested in the case so far by the investigating agencies and role of then investigating officer Geeta Johri, is also under scanner.

Those IPS officers arrested in the case include D G Vanzara, Raj Kumar Pandiyan, Dinesh M N and Abhay Chudasma.
