CBI conducts searches at 58 locations in multi-crore chit fund scam

NEW DELHI: CBI today carried out searches at 58 locations across the country in connection with multi-crore chit fund scam of West Bengal.

The searches were conducted at 29 places in West Bengal, 12 in Uttar Pradesh, 11 in Delhi, three in Assam, two in Maharashtra and one in Jharkhand, agency sources said here today.

The residential premises of a private firm's directors Prithi Pal Singh Sethi and Girraj Vashishtha, and consultant B C Roy were also searched, they said.

CBI has registered 971 cases in the chit fund scam, of which 464 matters related to non-Saradha chit fund firms.

At present, the chit fund cases are spread over in various trial courts across West Bengal and CBI wants three special courts in Kolkata to deal with them.
