CBI chief Ranjit Sinha doesn’t invite Lalu Prasad to kin’s wedding

Lalu was once known to be having a good rapport with Sinha but he was not invited to the wedding as he is an accused in the fodder scam case being probed by the CBI.

PATNA: CBI director RanjitSinha's daughter RudraniSinha got married to a 2009-batch IAS official of Chhattisgarh, Avnish Kumar Sharan, at a function attended by the who's who of the state here on Saturday.

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad was conspicuous by his absence. Lalu was once known to be having a good rapport with Sinha but he was not invited to the wedding as he is an accused in the fodder scam case being probed by the CBI.

Those who attended the function were Bihar and Kerala governors D Y Patil and Nikhil Kumar respectively, Union minister and NCP leader Tariq Anwar, BJP leaders Sushilkumar Modi, Shahnawaz Hussain and Shatrughan Sinha, Congress leader Subodh Kant Sahai and senior police and IAS officers of Bihar and Jharkhand.

Avnish, currently posted as municipal commissioner in Bilaspur, hails from Kewati village in Dalsinghsarai subdivision of Samastipur district. Rudrani was working as an analyst in the National Technology Research Organisation, on deputation from the Intelligence Bureau.

The bride's family will host a reception in Delhi on July 19. Those invited to the reception include President Pranab Mukherjee, PM Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
