CBI chargesheet is just a partial victory: Ishrat’s Mother

MUMBAI: Ishrat Jahan’s mother Shamima has said that the CBI chargesheet in the encounter case was partial victory for her.

“We fought for nine years against the people responsible for her daughter’s death. We are happy to see that the people involved in the fake encounter have been named in the CBI chargesheet. But there are some others at the top who should also be brought to justice. We hope that we can eventually get justice,” Shamima said, while addressing a press conference in Mumbai.

Ishrat’s sister Nusrat said “There is no way my sister could have been involved in any illegal activity. She was killed for no reason in a fake encounter. We are satisfied that some people have been named in the court, but we will be happy only if all those responsible for Ishrat’s death are booked and are finally convicted.”

Ishrat’s family friend Rauf Lala, who supported the family during their legal battle, said “We have no political alignment. We are not interested in supporting any political party. Congress has not gone out of the way to help us. But we are happy to see that law is taking its course. We hope that more people responsible for this encounter are also booked”.
