The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday busted an alleged fraudulent insurance claims racket here in West Bengal.

KOLKATA: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday busted an alleged fraudulent insurance claims racket here in West Bengal.

It even carried out searches at 37 places including premises of officials of New India Assurance Company and insurance surveyors for allegedly passing fraudulent insurance claims, a CBI spokesperson said.

After registering seven cases, the CBI sleuths carried out search operations at the premises of officials of the both the insurance company and those allegedly involved in causing a loss of Rs 3 crore to New India Assurance. The premises of cold storage owners in West Bengal were also searched, the CBI spokesperson said.

The sources further added that they are probing into the scam and some senior officials of the insurance company are allegedly involved in the scam .
