CBI asks police to take steps for Madan Mitra's house confinement
KOLKATA: The CBI today wrote to the Kolkata Police asking it to take adequate steps complying with a court order directing West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra, an accused in the Saradha scam, to remain in house confinement under police surveillance.

"We have written to the Kolkata Police to take adequate steps complying with the court order directing Mitra to be in house confinement under police surveillance till the disposal of a CBI plea for cancellation of his bail," an official said.

When contacted, Special Additional and Joint Commissioner of Police (Headquarter) Rajeev Mishra told PTI, "As per the court order, we have already taken necessary actions in this matter."

Yesterday, the Calcutta High Court had directed that Mitra, at present admitted to a private hospital in the city, shall not move out of his house unless there was a medical emergency or requirement for investigation purposes by the CBI.
