CBI arrests IAF officer for taking bribe

NEW DELHI: CBI has arrested an Indian Air Force officer for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor for handing over of construction site in Nashik district of Maharashtra.

A CBI spokesperson said here today that the contractor in his complaint had alleged that the Group Captain of IAF had demanded bribe from him.

"CBI registered a case and after verification of complaint laid a trap. The accused was caught while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant," CBI spokesperson said here.

The official said that searches were conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused and incriminating documents were recovered.

"The arrested accused was produced today before a court at Nashik. Further investigation is in progress," the official said.
