This means that the CBI is neither believing the Gujarat Police nor the Intelligence Bureau’s claim that Johar and Rana were Pakistani citizens and is unsure if the said names are true identities of the killed persons.
This move by the investigating agency also raises a question mark over the Union home ministry’s affidavit in the matter before the Gujarat High Court that said Johar and Rana were Pakistani LeT terrorists.
ET had first reported on July 7 that the CBI was doing a probe in Jammu & Kashmir suspecting that Johar may not be a Pakistani as alleged, but may be an Indian.
